From Douglas to Hollywood – The Greatest Race On Earth
TT film and docuseries set to air in 2025
Hollywood heavyweights Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt are combining forces to create a docuseries and feature film around the iconic Isle of Man TT Races. And they are set to hit our screens next year.
Production of a docuseries, titled The Greatest Race On Earth, is taking place at this year’s TT races. The series is the collaboration of Tatum’s Free Association company and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. They’ve teamed up with Box To Box Films, a multinational production company which specialises in sporting docuseries, most notably the hugely-successful Formula One series Drive To Survive.
Tatum attended last year’s TT races along with his Free Association colleagues Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan, and he said:
“We dare anyone to find more awe-inspiring people, or a more breathtakingly vibrant world than the Isle of Man TT Races. We’ve always been drawn to characters who push the edge of what’s possible, and this race is their Shangri-La. We’re deeply honoured to be part of the creative dream team telling the story of this legendary event and can’t wait to share it with audiences all across the globe.”

Part of Tatum’s dream team is James Gay-Rees, co-founder of Box To Box Films and producer on feature films such as Senna and Diego Maradona. He added:
"It’s a great privilege to be working with these partners on this extremely unique project. The Isle of Man TT is one of the most visceral, exhilarating and unusual events in the motorsport diary. We can’t wait to bring this incredible world to new audiences.”
Drive To Survive has been credited with a huge rise in popularity in Formula One, especially among younger and American audiences. The series focused on the personalities and behind the scenes storylines, rather than the sporting and technical aspects of the championship, and The Greatest Race On Earth is expected to take on a similar narrative.
